The word “Kawatha” in an Ojibwe word, meaning, “Bright waters and happy lands.” Kawatha Garage Ltd was established in 1954 by Jim Black and Walter Olson. It was purchased in 1975 by Jim Hannivan. Then, in 2000, Don Logan purchased the business, and he remains the current owner of the establishment. Kawatha Garage Ltd was a gas station until 2003.
